TreeChurch and Gardens
★★★★★
Set in the rolling farmland of Ohaupo, Waikato, the TreeChurch and Gardens is a 3ha garden, with a living chapel at its heart. The TreeChurch is made of trees grown over an iron frame to create a place of joy and peace. In spring and summer red roses adorn the TreeChurch, a special place for many couples who choose to marry here. Surrounding the TreeChurch are several garden rooms, including a labyrinth, avenues of trees, perennial flower beds, an English Oak circle, a Monet style waterlily pond, a Japanese pond, an amphitheatre and more.
The gardens are graced by many mature and special trees, including Oaks, Maples, Alders, Elms, Cypress, Acacia, Magnolias, Sycamore, Birches, Crepe Myrtles, and Beeches, to name just some. Artfully landscaped to reflect English and European garden traditions, these mature trees make for a serene environment, with many local and international visitors describing the gardens as a place of contemplation and reflection. Each season brings its own special beauty in the gardens, from the lush greens of new leaves in spring, to the flowers, green glades and warm air of summer, and the vivid colours of exotic deciduous trees in Autumn.
There are many spots to rest a while, to relax or to enjoy a picnic, with park benches dotted around and tables and chairs under large shade sails among the trees.
