Woodcote

★★★★

Set within the rolling landscape of Mangaroa Farm in Upper Hutt, Wellington. Woodcote is being cultivated as a vibrant, biodiverse sanctuary for the community—a place where people of all ages can connect with nature, learn from the land, and enjoy peaceful moments together.

Originally structured around formal hedges, roses, rhododendrons, and hydrangeas, the garden is now evolving to include a rich tapestry of native plants and edible species, blending ornamental beauty with ecological purpose. Large conifers and deciduous trees provide shelter and seasonal colour, framing expansive lawns that invite play, picnics, and quiet reflection. Seating areas are nestled throughout the garden, offering spaces for families to gather, children to explore, and visitors to enjoy the sights and sounds of native birds and insects.

A recently built indoor space extends the garden’s purpose, hosting yoga sessions, workshops, and community events that deepen the connection between people and place. Woodcote is maintained without synthetic sprays or fertilisers, embracing regenerative practices that support soil health, biodiversity, and long-term resilience. It is a garden that celebrates the rhythms of nature—where each season brings new life, colour, and inspiration. O

ur vision is for Woodcote to become a living classroom, a community retreat, and a model of sustainable gardening. A place where curiosity is nurtured, ecosystems are honoured, and the beauty of Aotearoa’s natural heritage is shared and preserved.
