Willows Green – A Hillside Garden in the Heart of Marlborough
Willows Green is a thoughtfully designed hillside garden nestled in Blenheim’s Fairbourne Drive, overlooking vineyards and with views out toward the Wither Hills. Created by Dave and Kirsty Wraight, this private garden has been gradually developed since 2017 and continues to evolve, blending cottage charm with structural planting and seasonal colour.
Visitors enter through rose-filled borders that frame the weatherboard home in summer scent, before wandering through the Lane of Roses, a romantic path lined with tumbling blooms on either side. The journey continues past the summerhouse and into the Woodland Walk, where dappled light filters through established trees and hydrangeas, offering cool shade in the warmer months.
A recent addition includes a timber boardwalk that gently guides visitors down the hillside, providing safe and scenic access to the lower parts of the garden. This leads to newly developed spaces, including a mix of native planting, lush perennials, roses and areas designed for quiet reflection.
At the base of the garden, views open out across neighbouring Lake Wentworth — a peaceful spot where birdsong is constant and ever-changing. Every section of Willows Green has been created with care, from the garden beds to the seating nooks, offering a space that feels both structured and natural.
Willows Green is a personal garden shared with joy. It reflects the owners’ love of design, nature, and creating beauty in all seasons.
