Loch Leven Garden and Nursery
★★★★★
Loch Leven started 36 years ago from a blank canvas. Come and see what a passionate plants woman and an enthusiastic husband have created. This 1.2 hectare structured and restful garden is tranquil and inspiring and set on a small farm in the Amuri Basin.
The garden flows through and around an expansive lawn planted with deciduous trees which provide shade in summer and beautiful colour in autumn. Large borders are filled with creative plant combinations. Viburnums, old fashioned shrubs, rhododendrons and perennials, hostas, roses and irises with mass plantings used throughout the borders.
Hedging is used extensively to provide shelter and all year-round structure. Native areas create shelter and an evergreen display throughout the seasons. Wire art sculptures, pots, old bricks and locally sourced boulders are features through out the garden.
Peony beds planted during Lock down 2020 add beautiful spring colour usually starting in mid to late October and going through until late November. Espaliered fruit trees and a vegetable potager are both very productive. A summerhouse nestled between borders is a beautiful place to enjoy the tranquility of this garden. The Lowry Peaks can be viewed from many areas in the garden.
The nursery has a wide selection of plants, especially many old fashioned perennials which the owners propagate and will be available to purchase during your visit.
