Terrace Station
Snowdrop Festival Garden Tours
CANTERBURY
9 august 2026
We are thrilled to open our garden for the first Snowdrop Festival at Terrace Station.
Kate Foster, the current gardener, planted Galanthus nivalis in the 1970s. Friends helped extend the planted areas and now the bulbs are spreading naturally. A few other varieties have since been added to the collection.
Guided tours will be at 11am and 1pm and will last about 40 minutes. There will be a brief introduction to the garden followed by a walk to see the different species of Galanthus on show, along with all the other spring flowers. The 17 hectare woodland will also be open for visitors to see extensive drifts of snowdrops and hellebores.
Admission is $20 for adults (no charge for children, please leave dogs at home). Complimentary tea and coffee will be available; bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn; chairs available. The Hutch, a one time summerhouse with displays of farm and garden tools, will be open. Ticket holders will be offered snowdrops to take home.
Email terracestation.nz@gmail.com to reserve your place on a tour – numbers are limited and bookings essential. Tickets are payable on the day only by cash. Eftpos and credit facilities will not be available. Please note that admission to the homestead and other buildings is not included.
