Pepped Warbeck (Private)
Situated in the picturesque Ohariu Valley, Pepped Warbeck is set amongst glorious views of rolling farmland. The garden was started in 1976 and remodelled in 2007, after an architecturally designed house, which contains interesting design features to maximise solar passive heating, had been built on a hill overlooking the original bog garden. The new garden has been created to complement the new house and bog garden. It consists of a majestic entrance and long curving drive, planted with Marlborough daisies and many different native trees and shrubs.
Extensive lawns sweep down to the bog garden, which features five adjoining ponds planted with primulas, bog irises, hostas and gunnera. A steep bank on the far side of the bog garden is planted with many specimen trees and shrubs including hydrangeas and rhododendron. In spring, bulbs, renga renga lilies, Myosotidium hortensia and primulas are followed by clematis, roses and summer perennials. Japanese anemones and many deciduous trees provide colour in autumn.
