Tussix (Private)

In late spring it has one of the best displays of Chatham Island forget-me-nots to be seen and at that time also features bearded iris, roses and rhododendrons. A pergola covered in wisteria and jackmanii clematis leads past an ample vegetable area to a wide lawn where a children's play house adds a whimsical note.

Wide borders are edged with old totara posts from the farm and elsewhere with stone. Natives thrive in a newer part of the garden where some vintage farm equipment is displayed alongside a coal truck, reflecting the history of the area. A fascinating collection of old hand- hewn troughs, planted with succulents, can also be found in the garden. This is an enjoyable addition to a day out in East Takaka.
