Bradley’s Garden

★★★★★

Bradley’s garden is a 5-acre country garden with our Paddy Hills Farm as the backdrop. It is a garden of rooms that will surprise and delight you on your journey. Linked by stone pathways, each space creates a different feel, feature, or purpose.

You will enter through the grand wrought-iron gate to a hydrangea walkway lined by a limestone wall under a mature canopy of established trees. A swing seat beneath a rose-covered pergola overlooks a large pond with water lilies, nestled amongst extensive native plantings.

From there, take a walk up to the Italian area via the very wide stone steps and through a substantial grape-covered pergola constructed of riverstone. This space is surrounded by a very mature Thuja hedge and is the main wedding ceremony area. Around the corner lies a limestone-walled tunnel flanked either side by two magnificent 200-year-old tōtara.

Straight ahead of you will be the lavender lane that will lead you to our unique limestone-terraced amphitheatre, where we have been entertained by talented soprano singers in the past. You may wish to take in a game of outdoor chess before heading through the olive grove cathedral.

Our bespoke gazebo lawn area provides the perfect space for Devonshire teas where you can relax and enjoy the sound of water trickling over rocks in the second pond.

The 9-hole country mini-putt course, complete with grass fairways, is there to tempt and challenge you on your way out of the garden.

The wedding and function centre is surrounded by plantings showing the influence of landscape designer Paul Bangay.

We have used local materials such as stone and boulders, along with railway sleepers. Most of the garden art has been created by ourselves, or very talented local artists. Plantings include a large array of different conifers trees, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, hostas and Rugosa roses.

Highly-rated Bed and Breakfast accommodation is available at our self-contained cottage.
