22 Founding Gardens, the National Executive, Vice-President and President of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, the Chief Executives of Tourism New Zealand and Qualmark, and representatives from the country's leading garden publications meet at the Auckland Residence of the Governor General to officially launch the New Zealand Gardens Trust and its website www.gardens.org.nz.
This event brought to a conclusion five years of planning and hard work, originally started at a seminar in Dunedin in 1998.Established by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, the NZGT is charged with the setting of standards and promotion of excellence in the open garden sector in this country.The website is New Zealand's shop window to the garden visitors of the world, and a reliable and credible resource for the independent traveller and tour operator alike.
