Opening Hours:Sept. - Apr.
Region:South Otago
Description

Just south of Dunedin in the suburb of Abbotsford a hectare of waste land has been imaginatively converted into a young and unusual garden. A small creek that runs the length of the property is crossed by little bridges and studded with grand century old crack willows carefully pruned to become striking features. Underneath a variety of rhododendrons and other shrubs flourish while woodland perennials and damp loving plants add to the 'wylde' atmosphere. A mass planting of daffodils in the orchard is a special feature in spring while in early summer hundreds of Heritage roses (and some modern) are an outstanding attraction when they flower around the house and along the driveway. Wide lawns set off beds of perennials in pastel colours near the house. Beyond in a park land setting, there is a reflective pond with marginal plantings. Please note that small children are free if attended by an adult.
