Description
The garden covers approximately 8 acres. The garden is to some extent, themed. The French garden includes a field of 2000 lavenders. The English garden has over 300 rhododendrons, several hundred azaleas, camellias, magnolias and roses plus many large trees - pin oaks, conifers, walnuts, chestnuts etc. In 2007 5,000 plants were planted in the Native Garden and ponds with waterfalls, streams and bridges were created. Around the house the planting combines rses, peonies, wisteria, clematis, hydrangeas and a kitchen garden. The Tuscany Garden incorporates an olive grove of 40 trees, red roses, box hedging, lavender and grapes. The Oriental Garden has a pond with a Japanese bridge, waterfall, large ornamental rocks and 300 maples. The orchard grows 15 varieties of fruit: cherries, quince, plums, apricots, pears and apples. There is a very large vegetable garden with a glasshouse and two large plastic tunnel houses. Everything from yams to artichocks arev grown. There are over 15,000 bulbs, mainly tulips and daffodils and 400 peonies.
