Description

Richmond is a formal garden with a boutique topiary nursery developed since 1993. Taking its inspiration from the structured gardens of the 16th and 17th centuries it is designed to be viewed from the house but the visitor is inspired to walk and explore the many different rooms and allee. The garden achieves its harmony and continuity through the use of European beech and hornbeam hedging, through pleached lime and hornbeam, Buxus hedging and topiary and through an all green colour scheme. A formally planted beech and linden forest surrounds a 56 metre long reflecting pool with its bronze fountain - further ornamentation is used with restraint. Richmond garden is extensive and thought to be the only one of its kind in the country. Its appeal lies in its unchanging harmony all year round. Guided tours are offered to groups of 15 or more.
