About Us

The New Zealand Gardens Trust was established by New Zealand's only national horticultural body, the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, to assess gardens for the public to visit.

The objectives of the trust are to:

  • Promote excellence in the open garden sector through setting of standards and provision of educational opportunities for members and non member gardens
  • Represent and advocate for the open garden sector
  • Maintain, and where possible enhance, the working and professional relationship with the RNZIH
